Objective aptitude measurement by education level

The learning ability (aptitude) test measures four thinking domains: verbal reasoning, perceptual speed, numerical reasoning (number series), and spatial insight. The result includes an overall score and separate scores per domain, each interpreted within norm groups according to education level.

The test is available in two versions:

  • A2/Bachelor – for profiles with an A2 diploma where a bachelor level is expected.
  • Bachelor/Master – for highly-educated candidates with a bachelor’s degree where a master level is expected.

Benefits of the learning ability test

The learning ability test makes it possible to quickly and easily map cognitive potential. With clear scores per skill area and an overall score, you get immediately usable insights for selection, development, and growth trajectories.

The test is available in Dutch, French and English, fully online and scalable. Thanks to the two norm groups (A2/Bachelor and Bachelor/Master), comparisons are always fair and aligned with the correct education level.

Applications: selection, development & mobility

The learning ability (aptitude) test is widely applicable and provides objective data for recruitment, development, and career progression. Specifically, the test is ideal for:

  • HR & recruiters: an objective data point on learning ability by education level. Useful for shortlisting, comparison, and substantiation alongside the CV and interview.
  • Hiring managers: quick insight into who processes new information quickly and accurately, with scores that make onboarding and training time more realistic.
  • L&D / talent development: start with a baseline measurement per domain and focus learning paths on the greatest development opportunities.
  • Internal mobility: objectively assess whether someone is ready for a role with higher cognitive demands, ensuring fair comparison within the same education group.

Methodology

What does the learning ability test measure?

The learning ability test is available in two versions – A2/Bachelor and Bachelor/Master – ensuring that the level of difficulty perfectly matches the candidate’s educational background. Both versions measure the same thinking domains, but at an adjusted level.

A2/Bachelor version

  • Word meaning: language skills and vocabulary for communication

  • Verbal reasoning: logical thinking and identifying relationships in language

  • Perceptual speed: speed and accuracy of information processing

  • Number series: numerical insight and pattern recognition

  • Spatial insight: mentally visualising/manipulating shapes and structures

Bachelor/Master version

  • Language skills: understanding more complex texts and verbal reasoning

  • Perceptual speed: processing speed and precision

  • Number series: numerical reasoning, pattern recognition, analytical thinking

  • Spatial insight: 2D/3D visualisation and complex structures

The result provides a clear overall score and detailed subscores per domain, directly applicable in recruitment, development, and growth processes.
