Comment adapter votre communication aux différents profils PACS?

How do you adapt your communication to different PACS profiles?

Why does a message immediately resonate with one person, while it seems to completely miss the other? Why does one person take feedback constructively, while another feels attacked right away?

The answer to these questions often has little to do with the content of the message, and more with the way we communicate it. And that way is strongly influenced by our behavioural style.

The PACS model makes those differences visible — and therefore easier to discuss and manage.

Each colour, a different communication need.

PACS maps behaviour using four behavioural colours. Each profile has its own preferences, sensitivities and way of handling communication:

🔴 Red – decisive and direct

  • Style: Brief, to the point, goal-oriented
  • What works: clarity, pace, decisiveness
  • What to avoid: endless discussions, too much detail and doubt
  • Tip: Get to the point quickly. Allow autonomy and decision-making space.

🔵 Blue – structured and analytical

  • Style: Accurate, thoughtful, well-reasoned
  • What works: logic, preparation, clear framework
  • What to avoid: vague instructions and a chaotic approach
  • Tip: Give time to reflect. Explain the rationale behind actions.

🟡 Yellow – expressive and passionate

  • Style: Enthusiastic, informal, creative
  • What works: personal approach, room for ideas, open atmosphere
  • What to avoid: emotional distance, too many rules, routine
  • Tip: Show appreciation. Allow space for contribution and interaction.

🟢 Green – caring and connecting

  • Style: Friendly, patient, supportive
  • What works: respectful tone, stability, sense of belonging
  • What to avoid: dominant tone, sudden pressure, impersonal approach
  • Tip: Offer trust. Emphasise shared goals.

What does this mean in practice?

  • Giving feedback? Adjust your tone and pace to match your colleague's profile.
  • Giving instructions? Provide structure and logic for blue profiles, give space and flexibility for yellow, take your time and stay kind for green, and be goal-oriented and efficient for red.
  • In case of tension or misunderstandings? Remember that behaviour doesn't always reflect intent. Someone who withdraws might need time to process. Someone who reacts sharply doesn’t always mean it personally. Understanding behavioural styles helps interpret situations accurately — and respond more calmly.

By communicating with awareness of the other person's behavioural style, you gain more than efficiency: you build trust, psychological safety and mutual respect.

Adapting communication is a skill.

PACS helps with that. Not to label people, but to better understand behaviour.
