Leadership tests: discover leadership style, flexibility and effectiveness in different situations.

In leadership, there’s no fixed formula. Our situational leadership assessment, based on the Hersey and Blanchard model, reveals which leadership styles a manager uses, how flexibly they adapt, and how well their approach fits the team’s needs.

Why situational leadership?

Effective leadership requires adjusting your approach to the competence and commitment of your team members. Someone may need a directive style when tackling a new, complex task, but benefit from delegation for routine work. By adapting flexibly, you boost engagement, quality and team speed. Effective situational leadership finds the right balance between people orientation and results orientation.

What does our leadership test measure?

  • Preferred style: which style(s) a leader uses most often.

  • Supporting styles: styles they switch to with ease.

  • Development styles: less natural styles with growth potential.

  • Style flexibility: how quickly and smoothly they shift between styles.

  • Style effectiveness: how well their leadership approach fits what the team needs.

Ideal for the selection and development of team leads, coordinators, supervisors and managers.

Four leadership styles

What does situational leadership deliver?

The situational leadership test maps out four leadership styles.

  • Directing: high task orientation, low relationship orientation. Close follow-up and clear instructions, ideal for newcomers, new tasks or time pressure.
  • Coaching: high task and relationship orientation. Explains, motivates and allows room for questions. Suitable for motivated but still inexperienced employees.
  • Supporting: high relationship orientation, lower task orientation. Involves joint decision-making and participation, useful when motivation or confidence fluctuates.
  • Delegating: low task and relationship orientation. Gives responsibility and minimal guidance, ideal for independent and competent talent.

This leadership test provides insight into leadership styles and the flexibility to switch between them. In the workplace, this translates into higher engagement, fewer conflicts and smoother alignment between leaders and team members.
